Welcome to my Oikos! I am Korinna, a poet from Tanagra, Boetia. I am known for writing choral poetry in the Boetian dialect for celebrations. My works focused on local myths and drew parallels between the world of the gods and humans. It is said, according to Pausanios, that I defeated the poet Pindar in competition and had a monument erected to me for it. (Pindar supposedly called me a sow because of it. Sticks and stones...*g*) This would place me as having lived some time in the 5th century BC, but this is in dispute, naturally, with some saying that I more likely lived during the 2nd century BC. I am also listed in Antipater of Thessaloniki's catalogue of Nine Mortal Muses (1st century BC).
As you wander through my house you will discover places that serve as my homebase for certain activities. In the Courtyard I conduct my social activities here at AncientWorlds and in Hellas. My Library is for my historical and academic pursuits. Finally, in my Study you will find my game playing scores, statistics and artifacts. Thanks for visiting my home!
