In Norse mythology, Sváva was one of the Valkyries, maidens who served Odin as choosers of slain warriors who were taken to reside in Valhalla. She was the daughter of king Eylimi, and the sister of Hjordis, the second wife of Sigmund and mother to Sigurðr the dragonslayer. Her name means "Suebian".
"Eylimi was the name of a king, whose daughter was Svava; she was a Valkyrie, and rode air and sea. She gave Helgi his name, and shielded him oft thereafter in battle." [Helgarkvida Hjörvarðssonar, Lay of Helgi Hjörvarðsson, Poetic Edda]
Welcome to my Haim! As you wander through my house you will discover places that serve as my homebase for certain activities. In the Courtyard and Library you will find more information on Svava from the Sagas. Thanks for visiting my home!
The background image was made by myself. Avatar is by the wonderful Odin Knudsson.
