Welcome to my Domus! I possess a passion for the classical world; my areas of knowledge are most focused upon the Second Punic War, Augustus, the Hittites and the Eternal city itself. I also enjoy military history and the rise and fall of the Spartans. The downside to doing a degree in Ancient History is that I have no money, so I can’t quite become a Patron just yet! Go tell the Spartans, thou that passest by,
That here obedient to their laws we lie.
A RIDDLE
Injured by iron____________I am a loner
Scarred by the strokes__________of the sword's edge
Wearied of battle.________War I behold
The fiercest foes____yet I hope for no help
No comfort for me_______to come out of battle
Before among people___________I perish completely
But the keen swords__skilfully forged,
The handiwork hard-edged__of hammering smiths,
Bite into my stronghold,____I must ever abide
An encounter more dire;__never a doctor
Will I ever find_____on the field of fighting
To heal with herbs__the grievous hurts,
But my sword-wounds___are ever widened
By death-blows dealt me___day and night
