I'm Ioannis Nestor of the Neleids family.

My family history goes centuries back, even before the Trojan War. My ancestors were rulers of sandy PYLOS in Peloponnesus. The leader of our family was Neleus, who came from Thessaly and acquired the Messenian plain. His son, Nestor, succeeded him and ruled through three generations of men. Nestor took part in the expedition against TROY, by providing 90 ships, second only to Agamemnon himself, who fitted out 100 ships.

Our sovereignty in Pylos came to an end when the Dorians captured our palace and put it to the torch. My family then took refuge in Attica, and established here in beautiful ATHENS. Some other members of the family went to Asia Minor and settled in Ionia.

I will not disgrace the sacred arms, nor will I desert my comrade in arms wherever I may be stationed. And I will fight in defense of the sacred and the secular, and I will hand on my fatherland not less, but greater and better, as far as is in my own power and together with all my comrades.

And I will pay thoughtful heed to whoever may be in authority over me, and to the established laws and to whatever laws may be established in the future. And if anyone overthrows them, I will not permit it as far as is in my own power and together with all my comrades, and I will honor our ancestral traditions as sacred.
