Welcome to my villa, I hope you find comfort and respite here. I'm hard to find around here these days as I am hard at work shopping to fix up my new home. However if I am not here Xhanthippos will serve you refreshment, and feel free to leave a message with him, he will make sure I get it.
I am mad about ancient history especially that of Imperial Rome, every Caesar is fascinating, some more colorful than the other's, but all had their own story, drama and lesson to be learned. I enjoy every emporer I've ever studied. I wish I cared this much about history when I was in school!

I really enjoy a good quote and maybe that's what I'll base my journal on, who knows, but, for now let me leave you with a good one from Aristotle's Nicomachian Ethics, On Man and the Universe.
"Nobility shines out when a person bears with calmness the weight of accumulated misfortunes, not from insensibility, but from dignity and greatness of spirit."
I for one agree with Aristotle, life bears us blows but it's those of us who roll with the punches and never quit that truly earn the right to be noble. Nobility is not a birth right, it is earned and I think the ancient world and the current world just don't get it. Those who have always had it easy, are nothing but lucky, but those who walk through fire and continue on, are those who should be lauded.
