The history of the travels of the Varangians or the Varjagers in austrveg (in the east) is the history of pirates, merchants, and saints, of silver and silk from the East, of brutal gr(rr)eed for power, of the grand duchy Kiev, the empire Byzants, and the Arab part of the world, - and of exotic fairgrounds. The important question is: Who were the Rus? Did the Northeners or the Slavs found the Russian empire? It is difficult to give an exact historical outline, but the dramatic history is found in ancient sagas. |
