Learning Runes

Willkommen! Make yourself comfortable and relaxed in my home, and all the hospitality that I can give shall be yours. Heimdall is the Gatekeeper of this Haim, so please give him offerings of warm, frothy beer before making your way to the next room.
I have family in Germany and I enjoy learning about the history of my ancestors. My specific interests are in the relgious and spiritual practices of the Northern Europeans, and I spend many hours reading about them.
In addition to learning about the myths of the Northern Europeans, I am endeavoring to learn the Runes. This system of writing was used by the Germanic peoples as both a way of communication and as a divinatory system. Concerning the latter, the runes are much harder to learn than either the tarot, I-Ching, Ogham, or astrology (at least harder for me!) because the Rune Poems can seem very abstract. I have set up a journal ("Learning Runes") and I am beginning to learn a rune a day.
Finally, I hope to learn about the role of women in Northern Europe. In my studies so far, I have found only minimal information about women in the home, women in ritual, women & extracurricular activities, and the legal rights of women. I look forward to exploring this AncientWorld and learning more about this subject. (Additionally, if you have any suggestions for a good book/article, please leave me a message above and link me!)
Again, thanks for stopping by and Blessing to You!
