Welcome, friend, to the The Comely Pine. You’re just in time – cook is serving up fresh dishes now! Have a seat at one of the tables and we’ll get you fed! I’m Demos…anything you need, just ask.
First a drink for your parched throat, am I right? We have wines for every taste, friend. Ask any of our lovely vinariae for your favorite – Syrian, Setian, even Falernian if you have a full purse! – Girl, bring that jug here! If you want a special drink, ask for some of our own Greek Fire nectar -- hot wine with honey, pepper, cassia, and some special spices. You’ll soon forget your cares!
Now, what will you have, friend? We have fresh mullet with a pine nut, honey, and garum sauce. Snails with lentils and pepper sauce. There’s partridge with a celery and mint sauce. Peppered lamb roasted with figs, served with a ginger and honey sauce. What about rabbit pie with leeks, turnips, and prunes? – it’s one of cook’s special dishes.
Girl! More wine here!
Drinks served for one as;
if you pay double, you will drink better;
if you pay quadruple, you will drink Falernian.

After you’ve had your fill at the table, spend the evening in our lively taverna. Locals, sailors, and travelers from all over the empire come here for fun! There's always a friendly game to join and excitement to be had.
Can you hear the shouts of "Venus!"? Can you hear the dice roll in the anxious silence before the crowd cheers? Take a chance on Fortuna favoring you!
Our lovely vinariae will keep your cup filled while you cast the dice. A band of musicians from sun-washed Cyprus play lively tunes as they accompany the exotic and sensuous performances of our dancers. We always have a variety of lovelies from Syria, Armenia, and the Ionian islands -- all of them skilled in the seductive art of the dance. Sit back and enjoy the show!

Are you lonely friend? If you prefer some company, a private performance can be arranged with one of our dancing beauties. There’s only a small fee to reserve one of our lounges, nothing a healthy traveler can’t afford. An hour with one of our graceful flowers is sure to satisfy the Pan within you!
