When it came to the paranormal, the ancient world was a wide open town. For those in poor health, shrines offered treatment while you slept "dream incubation." For the wealthy there were personal soothsayers and astrologers. For the poor there were the street sorcerers and oracles. At all levels of psychic service, women played a prominent part.
