For any and all discussion about the starting city and first portion of the Silk Road.
The Silk Road began, roughly, in Xi'an/Chang'an, the city of the rows of hundreds of terracotta soldiers that were buried along with the short-lived Chinese Emperor Qin. Xi'an was also the capital of China during the Tang Dynasty, which was the height of the Silk Road's importance and referred to by some as China's Golden Era.
