Explanation of titles and levels within our group

The purpose of Celtia's Bardic College is for study, practice and preservation of the traditional Celtic bardic arts of poetry, storytelling, legend and literature. With that in mind, the levels of membership are set up to encourage participation. All members should feel free to post their original compositions, as practice and working within the various bardic forms. In addition to their own compositions, all are welcome to post any questions, helpful information, historical material, or suggestions for discussion. We can all learn from each other!

The different titles of Bardic College are based on the old levels of achievement for the Celtic schools of ancient times. It is a little easier to work your way up the levels here, however. In these modern times, it is no longer necessary to memorize hundreds of genealogies or exemplify each and every form of composition.

Here are the levels of Bardic College and what they mean. I have based promotion on a combination of the number of posts submitted by a member, along with consideration of any contests, awards, or other special honors they receive. For a post to count, it should be substantial. This doesn't mean it has to be lengthy or scholarly, it only means that it should contain something more than just a one-liner such as "Me too" and "Nice poem!". It is ok to post this way but it will not count towards the number of posts needed for promotion to the next level.

OLLAIRE: Beginner/Novice level. When a person applies to Bardic College, this is where they start.

DRISAC: Apprenticeship. After being accepted to Bardic College as a member, everyone goes to the apprentice level.

CLI: "Pillar". 40 posts plus consideraion of other achievements such as contest participation, awards, etc.

ANRUTH: "Noble Stream". On this special level, a member can create threads and write as much as they want. This level is achieved after making 100 posts, or with consideration of other achievements.

FILI OR POET: This is the highest level next to Ollamh or Group Leader. A Fili can edit boards, promote other members, create positions, and assist or substitute for the Ollamh. Prerequisite is the Anruth level. The Fili is appointed on the basis of number of posts and special achievements.
