From 323 to 133 B.C.
Sparta city was characterized by an earlier settlement prototype of villages, komai. Komai were separated, but as the archaeological remains show, the city wall contributed to the beginning of the unification of these separated komai. The archaeological remains have also identified the existence of gates. Only the city wall had six gates. Bridges crossed the rivers in Sparta (Eurotas’ bridge for example). Bridges and roads were quite earlier than the city wall.
