Brian Boru (914-1014) was a revolutionary warrior and king. The Battle of Clontarf was a turning point in Irish history.

Brian Boru is most often remembered for something that he did not really do - drive the Vikings out of Ireland at the Battle of Clontarf. He was a remarkable leader and strategist whose true motives may never be known - did he have an idealistic vision of a unified Irish nation? Or was he simply driven by powerful political and military ambitions?
