This king earned his nickname from the hundreds of battles he fought with the provincial kings of Ireland.
Conn Ked-Cathach was king of Ireland for twenty years until he was slain at Emhain Macha by the treachery of Tibradi Tirech, king of Ulster. This ended a long and bloody series of conflicts in first century Ireland.
