161-193 A.D. Lucius Aelius Aurelius Commodus (later, Marcus Aurelius Commodus Antoninus)was the first son of a Caesar to succeed since Domitian and revived the worst traits of Caesarian excess. His brutal reign from 180-193 was ended by assassination at the hands of his own ministers at the age of 32.
