The symbolic significance of bogs in literature

The title of this thread was inspired by Dianne Meredith's writings on Seamus Heaney's poetical citings of bogs. Heaney uses the bog landscape as a metaphor for the Irish psyche. This gives fertile ground for all sorts of discussions. Click here to read the PDF.
