After a quite successful first edition of the Lunar Festival last year, we're at it again! This time around, to remain faithful to the real thing, the festival will start January 29 to end the 7th....or sometime the 8th, depending on how long people will want to party!

So, what's the Lunar festival, you may ask, especially for those of you who weren't there the first time around? Well, basically, it's a celebration of the New Year and the transition from winter to Spring in the Orient that parallels the real-life celebrations in asian countries: most countries in Asia were traditionally following the Lunar calendar. As a result, their New Year is not exactly set at the same time than that of the Western countries that use the Gregorian calendar. Although all countries now do use the Gregorian calendar officially today, traditions are still very much alive! Among all the festivals in Asia, we've elected three that are our main focus: successively the Chinese New Year (China), Setsubun (Japan) and Vasant Panchami (India).

Now to the "wanna help" part: we've held a couple of public chats here about the organization of the festival: if you're interested, you can either go read it here or more simply ask one of the oriental scribes about it. There are already a few people from all over AW who've joined in the fun, but we're still open to any suggestions, submissions, help, whatever you name it. There's always enough work for anyone who's interested, whether it is for a little research, graphics, writing, etc; it may also be that you could have an idea for a quiz, game or another type of activity. If you want to take part to the Orient's MIEY (most important event of the year), it's really easy: gram, leave a scroll to or email one of the local scribes!
