I know this is late, but if you are still in need to do some research, or for anyone else that needs to conduct research, keep in mind that Rome is in Italy. Go to some of the actual Italian web sites on ancient Rome; type in "storia di roma", "cicerone e la republica romana", heck get an english to italian dictionary and use your imagination. I know Google will give the option to translate to english the results. If you are an history student, and you just use english speaking American authors, you are not getting the full picture.
