My horse, Justice

It is early morning and the dawn mist twirls around the men and their horses gathering at the gate of the keep; the war party soon to be off to search for the Rian. I join them with my horse, Justice, whom I raised by my own hand while still training to be a Brehon. Justice means a lot to me…and that can be taken two ways. As a Brehon I seek justice in all cases I am involved in, and my horse is a dear friend who has been through a lot with me. Earlier, after I finished packing all of the things I thought I might need in my pack, I saddled up Justice after brushing him down and checking his hind quarters and hoofs. He enjoyed the attention, but now, surrounded by the other horses and their riders, I sense his excitement and his determination to get on with our task. I, too, feel the excitement in the air. The men are ready to go; they wait only for Fenian’s war cry to send us on our way. With Justice stamping I hold his reigns tight to keep him under control. I, too, am chomping at the bit…I want to go! I see Fenian approach. Suddenly the crowd of men and their steeds are quiet, waiting to hear what our war chief will say.

What will he say to us?
