The bad news is, no, they don't do anything to make them non-venomous. The good news is, a Taratulas venom is about as potent as a bee sting, so whether or not you could be killed by one is going to depend on if you will have an allergic reaction to the venom. Also some Taratulas are more docile than others, finding a species that is docile is the best thing to do if you're worried about the Venom. The Chilean Rose (Rose Haired) Tarantula is one of the most docile, and the one sold most often at pet stores. It would probably be the best one to get. BTW, there are somewhere around 800, or 900 species of Taratula, and there are some species that are as big if not bigger than a basketball.
