I have been at a loss for something fine enough to give to Selu, but I finally came up with this small green stone.
The modern state stone of North Carolina is the emerald. Emeralds are found in the today's counties of Alexander and Mitchell, somewhat east of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Though I have been unable to find a specific reference to the Tsalagi and emeralds, it is not unreasonable that they would have found and treasured such lovely stones.
An emerald is a variety of beryl and in many cultures represents springtime and the coming of new life, and the constancy of love.
Here is an interesting explanation of the origin of emeralds from the Muzos Indians of Colombia, which of course has nothing to do with us, but is a good story just the same.
