I completely agree with you 100%.
It was a valid argument but ill placed in Jot's symposium thread -I knew he wouldnt have time or interest in answering those questions, Jot was never the creator of those festivals to begin with. So the topic needed to be brought somewhere else. Only thing I don't like about it being here is you have to be a group member to reply. But if anyone wishes to reply and doesn't want to join, just post in one of our homes and we'll faithfully repost it for you!
My opinion on sitewide festivals, there being too many or whatever, is that they ARE well attended and do attract alot of posting, interaction and participation. In fact, I and alot of others here were quiet as a church mouse until we found a spot in a festival to start posting in and introduce ourselves. (mine was Yngling and.. i think Anarane in Germania dragging me in for the A-Viking contest. Man that was sooo much fun!) So a well attended festival event can actually benefit the whole entire site, not even just the world it's held in.
You have to be supportive of that.
Yes there are, well, frankly too many festivals. I enjoy them, sometimes am not in a party mood so I post elsewhere. No big deal. Sometimes it's hard to, hard to find anything solid in the daily index when everything is a festival post. And too frequent festivals make each one less unique.
But what Kallistos said is correct, we will continue to have them at the rate we have them as long as participation spikes so high during them! It's just bound to happen.
Now, I aint no scribe in any world anymore, but am just speaking as one interestede in site's health. So, should there be restrictions on worlds? If so, how? I'm not opposed to restrictions, just seriously, how could that be implemented without hard feelings? Limit each world to .. two major festivals per year maybe? Just one? I dunno!
