To be honest I'm completely sick of festivals. I was tired of them before being a scribe and then I learned to loathe them when they become the unavoidable most important part of a scribe's job. Yes, it is the number one job scribes do -- or at least that was my experience. All we do here is party in one place and then move to the next one. If you're not partying then you're involved in setting up the next one. Best yet, the originality has long ago worn off. Sure, these festivals get prettier and prettier each time, but it's almost always the same stuff over and over again. Who has time for roleplay, or worse, academic pursuits, when the events calendar is full? This isn't AncientWorlds anymore, it's AncientParties.
I agree you can meet a lot of people through festivals, but it used to be the same with groups and other boards. Besides, I'm so tired from clicking halfway across AWs to find little clues and graphics that I don't have the energy nor time to attend the wrap-up parties.
I am burned out with festivals. Thank god we can only celebrate Decennelia otherwise someone would be out there trying to make it annual, if not sooner. My favorite event is one that isn't a festival, and one in which I chose not to participate but only follow along.
Summer of Revenge is an interactive roleplay event held in Celtia which should never be missed. Oh yeah... sorry, but there are no quizzes.
