    When a contestant completely outclassed all others, his opponents would withdraw from the competition. He was said to have won akonite. MILO OF KROTON was such a champion. On one occasion he tripped and fell on his way to recive the prize. The crowd jokingly objected to his winning. When he finally was defeated by a much younger man, the crowd carried him from the stadium on their shoulders. He was considered the greatest wrestler of all time.
