As if on key Nesime has swept me into his arms, dancing me closer than I'd care for, "You love him, Nettie...". I laugh at the obsurd suggestion, "I do not believe in love, cheri. It makes fools of men and slaves of women," I purr into his ear before turning to give a wink towards Giles who seems to have Simon's natural nack for grandstanding.

"Don't try to fool me, darling. I know that look in a woman's eyes... he's made you jealous, mad, and hurt you in only a few dances." I toss my curls and step out of the egyptian's arms, taking a glass from the nearest tray. "C'est impossible, I love no one more than myself," I give him a grin and toast my reflection in the hall mirror. I know he persues me, "Mignonette, I could make you so happy." Turning to look at him with a laugh, "I am happy. What more could I need to be parfait, n'est pas?" My hand airly waves off the words he pours in my ears. Love? Simon? As if he could return it.. not that I could possibly have fallen for an actor.

Thankfully we're not left alone for the words to continue, "You got another song, toots? They're getting tired of dancin." "Oui, mais oui. Merci, Edmon. Nesime, pardon moi. The public needs me." I leave him holding my glass and return to the piano.

The men of Simon's caste seem to accept me as part of the guild only making my thoughts that much more cruel. "Why don't ya have a seat next to me, dollface?", slurrs the youngest of the troop, "Or better yet...", he continues as he pats his knee. I laugh and comically examine his lap, "Too small. I'll have to pass, ma petit" The party goers chuckle as I add, "Do you know anything that will let me sing the blues? If you're to be my best offer tonight... I am suddenly so sad." The pout earns about a dozen more lude suggestions before he tells me to pick a popular tune and he'll make up the notes.

Sliding myself back into the curve of the piano, I sigh dramatically and wait for the quartet to start the sad dreamy tune. I was beginning to realize that my companion had slipped out of the party when the point came for me to begin and he was forgotten, "If you ever should leave why would I want to live? darling you must believe..." I find myself staring at the door wondering why I didnt go after Simon, longing for him to return.

There's the sound of a scuffle in the hallway, but trying not to panic anyone I turn to look at the pianist and keep singing with my heart beating in my throat. "Won't you try to forgive? What a fool I would be if I fooled with your love for me... I'd be wrong from the start I'd be unfair to my heart...."

I dont think that anyone else has noticed, no one else heard? I can feel myself trembling but no one else seems to budge, "So whatever you do don't you say that were through I'd do nothing but grieve if you ever should leave...""

Its just then that the music stops abruptly and all eyes are drawn towards the hall. What ever is interupting our evening?
