It was the end of the day. Germania fluffed her bed and prepared to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be an exciting day as Susannah was going to show her the city, stop by, and make introductions at the villas of some of the neighbors.
As darkness descended upon the city, torches were lit casting eerie light all around. Germania looked out one of the windows and watched as Pompeii took on a different feel. Gone were the merchants and their carts. In their place were the partygoers and men seeking some special company, which was very common in the Roman world.
Germania was glad she did not have to live that life, as she was perhaps an oddity among Romans, as she tended to be somewhat modest even for an entertainer.
“Good night Germania,” Susannah said from the other room.
“Good night Susannah,” Germania replied as she prepared to snuff out the lamp.
