I started lurking around AS playing SPQR some time in 1997. I chose to set up residence in Rome and by 1998 I had become a member of Byzantium and was posting furiously on a number of boards. I have never changed my name in all these ten years. Even when AS went down and the Vines came up, I still kept the old moniker. When the History Vine closed I was wandering aimlessly in cyberspace for a number of months. I made contact with a couple of AS refugee groups but no one had much good news. Of course when AW came online I scurried back as soon as I heard. We have had our share of ups and downs, but it seems that people with a love for history will continue to seek out others who share that love.
