Qoskana by Apo Mayta Huacac
The chakana, or Inca Cross, carries multiple meanings. It symbolizes the Southern Cross constellation; the three Incan worlds: lower/death, middle/life, and upper/heaven; and the three beasts which correspond to each world: snake, puma, and condor. The four arms represent the four cardinal directions while the center is Qosqo.
This chakana presents a Qosqo-centric theme with (from border inward) the underworld in purple, earth in green, sky in white and blue, and the sun represented by a yellow "Q". |
