I agree with Nimue that the Deverry Serie by Katherine Kerr are a great (summer) read, but I would strongly suggest to start with book 1 (Daggerspell) anyway.

It is true that the series is about reincarnation but they're also about unfinished business, karma and fate and one might not 'get' what it is all about when starting in the middle of the series.

Kerr's writing takes a bit of getting used to for some, but it sure is worth the effort. What can be frustrating to some, is that events are told according to their significance in the story and not necessarily chronologically. Events unfold both in the present and in the distant past at the same time and that might be confusing in the beginning. The same people keep popping up together, under different names though, because they owe debts for faults in past lives. Several people even live hundreds of years trying to set straight their wrong-doings in a past long long ago.

It has been ages since I've read them, but I think I'll pull them off the shelves too and read them again *S*

That reminds me, people who don't want to own/read two copies of the same book should know that book #3 is known under the names "Dawnspell" and "Bristling Woods", depending on whether you're in Europe or the US. The same goes for book #4, which appears under the titles "Dragonspell" and "The Dragon Revenant".

The series consists of 11 books in 3 sub-series (Deverry, Westland Cycle and The Dragon Mage) I just found out that a 4th sub-serie has been written, the Silver Wyrm serie (now 2 books), so I'm off to the bookstore later on with my wishlist of books to see if they have them *G*
