”Praetor, as no-one else has stepped forward voluntarily to appear as advocate for the accused in this case, and as every man is entitled to a defence, I will represent the defendants, with your permission”.

”Permission granted, Icilius Calvus; you are hereby appointed defence advocate.”

(OOC: i.e. the Umpire will handle the defence if the Urban Praetor next year turns our to be a PC, since it is not fair to burden LICA with this when Agrippa has other things to do. If not then, as he can’t be both judge/jury and advocate (see Rule 1.6.4.1.b), I’ll act as Icilius Calvus as a last post-umpirical duty.)
