Onions, you lucky thing! Timmy (who recently passed away) was very skittish when we first got him. The previous owners wanted Dad to kill him but Dad didn't have the heart.
Timmy was around 1 year old when we did get him and didn't like strangers at all. I dunno if uprooting him from the previous family had anything to do with it or not but he got used to us eventually.
He took off and hid in the wardrobe (closet) if anyone came to the door. As soon as the doorbell rang, a blur of orange and white fluff would careen down the hallway to parents bedroom and wouldn't come out for at least 4 hours. Blink and you'd miss it! LOL
Bribe them with food. That always works. *G*
