Obi-Wan Kenobi, aka Oberon Bernard, or sometimes Bernard. The owners wanted me to keep the name they gave him.
He was named Bernard when I bought him, and he nearly became Oberon to match the late Titania, but he wanted to be himself in his own right. He handles the Force and then some, and is already the dominant cat although he's still under a year old.

    Orion, sometimes named Silver.
He was named Jamie Foxx when I picked him up. He's skittish; the breeders mentioned that they didn't have time to socialize his litter much, as a relative of theirs is in the stages of dying.

Why did I get these kittens? I'd mentioned not picking up Juda, rhough I sponsored him.

Well, they're kittens, not cats, but... okay.

I was drinking one night with a copy of Cat Fancy in my hands, and a computer up and running. Dangerous, never do that! I love my previous American Curl, Ptarmigan, and thought to myself, hey, another would be cool! His temperment is excellent! A breeder of high reputation happens to live in driving distance (Ptarmigan's bloodline is related to her herd), so I popped her an e-mail with a general inquiry. In February, I found myself driving to NYC (sober) kicking myself for a fool, but falling in love with their little Bernard. I spent too much on him, but he came home anyway... and immediately set about pining for his old family, and not getting along with his new. To be honest, he instigated a lot of it. He's playing second fiddle to no one, not even me.

They'd told me that he and the kitten from a younger litter, that they'd named Jamie, were close buddies, and that they were willing to sell him to me for a lot less considering that the ill relative lives down in Florida and they were anticipating a lot of travelling. Jamie didn't particularly like me, but he came home anyway, and to see Obi-Wan and him meet at the cat carrier on my bathroom counter would wipe away any hesitancies on anyone's part. Bernard/Obi-Wan stopped his incessant mewling and crawled into the carrier with his buddy, tenderly licking him and staying with him till dawn.

Orion is definitely the older kitten's acolyte. He loves for me to pet him, but mostly when he is on an upper surface such as the counter, or a sofa. I'm too intimidating towering over him when he's on the floor. Orion gets along with Miw (Serenity), and Ptarmigan, and everyone steers clear of Jebu, who at 13 is really too old to get real scrappy about things now. Well, Obi-Wan doesn't quite steer away, if food is involved. He goes for the jugular, figuratively speaking.

And about table scraps? I handed one to Obi-Wan, and am now sporting a good sized bandaid to prove it. He wants what he wants when he wants it. Because of Orion, I know he's got a tender spot in his heart ... but hey, he won't even share delicacies with his soul brother, although if it is regular kitty kibble he's willing to eat out of the same dish at the same time with him.
