The masks are used for cures. They are vision faces. They are worn by medicine men useing turtle rattles. One of the more famous is called "spoon mouth". They are not created for artistic or decorative purpose. They are unique spiritual expressions given to the members of THE MEDICENE SOCIETY

Many that have been exhibited in museums and private collections have been returned to the original place of origen. Nevertheless, they are visualy fascinating. This is an importent aspect of the IROQUOI culture.
