but not silent. The yelling of the crowds in the stadium rings in my ears. Theseus why are you not here with me? These are the games you brought from Crete to celebrate your victory. There is a long quay that extended out into the sea. In the distance I see the patrol ships that guard the shores. I remember coming here on that long sea voyage. I had never been to sea befor, and the waters were rough. When we came ashore I could barely walk, but gladly I would have crawled to be on land again. We were so happy! We would celebrate our lives together. Nothing was here then. Just a simple alter, where wayfarers left offerings. They were grateful as we were not to be swallowed by the sea. Soon a fire was built. There was the sound of pipes. Ancient music and familiar music. The gods dwelled here, and had been born here. This was sacred land and favored by Zeus. We ate fish roasted on sticks. They gave me the rezin drink and I became very ill. I wanted to dance with them. The ancient crane dance would celebrate our wedding. Theseus would take me to Athens with him as his bride. The winds took us to Naxos instead. I was in terrible pain. They gave me a sleeping draught. When I awoke I was in the arms of another. Oh...Theseus...why did you leave me? I thought that I had found you again, but you are gone. Were you ever here? Was it only a dream? Was it all a dream? Theseus, I love you...Theseus come back to me!
