goes way back to the times of the RigVeda of India and possibly even before that. It is considered to be a hindu science and many people even in India today defer to astrologers when making important decisions. It is a complex form of astrology which can calculate detailed points concerning the horoscope, even up to the present minute. Calculations are made using sidereal time rather than the tropical zodiac used by western astrologers. This is considered to be more accurate to real time than the invented gregorian calender time. But from an astrologers point of view they both seem to compliment each other and the interpretations are usually the same.

Astrology should never be considered to be an inescapable fact or an oracle to live by to tell the future. It is a blueprint of what we were born with and what potential or possibilities may come to fruition or expression if we choose such manifestations. We always have free will to change anything so something is not written in stone when reading a horoscope chart. The best way to interpret a chart is to see what positive growth or expression can come out of the potential already indicated there. So its like a friendly guide to aspects of life that might need some attention.

The most important planet in Vedic Astrology is the Moon which is the most personal aspect of a person. Here, more emphasis is placed on the moon rather than the sun sign used in Western Astrology. This is because the moon changes sign on average every two and a half days compared with the sun once a month. And there is a branch of Vedic Astrology dedicated to the science of Nakshatras where everyday indications can be gleaned in detail as the moon moves from one nakshatra (lunar mansion or asterism) to another.

Each of the 27 Nakshatras are represented as a different moon goddess with different qualities or attributes and those born in one of those nakshatras will have the qualities of that goddess. I am born in Chitra (moon in Libra on the equator) which gives artistic ability and jewels and I have to say this is true if you count my gem and crystal collection. So if you are interested in finding out your Nakshatra please scroll me with your birth details as listed below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible and post your nakshatra on this thread:

    Date of birth
    place of birth
time of birth - am/pm. Please also indicate if you know whether it was daylight saving time or not.

Those not knowing their birth time may not get a totally accurate interpretation as the moon changes nakshatras every 13 and a half degrees through the zodiac. :)
