One thing which we might consider is what regnal year of Ramesses II we would like to place ourselves in. That could help the story along.

But another aspect is that, in my experience, to fix things too much in history will limit our movements and hamper fantasy for it would be too much of a history lesson and not posible for everyone to play with. A balance is always good. I vote for having the Ram III Khonsu temple there for that reason.
