We must be careful when dealing with real religions! (Read my own posts about Victorian Spiritualism) It is one thing to talk about practices in the Distant Past, It is quite another to cast dispersions linking a current (Victorian) faith to 'dark cults' and 'human sacrifice' without documentation. There may be reports one could find reguarding the Thugee durring the rebellion in India for example. Then one would refer to the report directly, better yet, quote it. No one can blame you for that.

Druids, Spiritualists, Freemasons, are all REAL goups. So becareful when linking them to 'dark' things.
