That was a great post Sak, and I agree with your assumption that Spearthrower Owl was most probably the king of Teotihuacan, though the location of his 'throne' wasn't specified. However I do have a question, since I'm more than a little hazy on the history of the Maya city-states...
I find it very curious as to why a previously amicable trading relationship should have suddenly taken an aggressive and territorial turn. Any thoughts on that? Is there actually archaeological or iconographic evidence of warfare and a military takeover of Tikal? - apart from the highly suspicious fact that Chak Tok Ich'aak 'died' the same day Siyah K'ak' entered Tikal, that is! Might have it have been a relatively peaceful assumption of power by the foreigners? Chak Tok Ich'aak's name seems to have been honoured even during the reigns of the Teotihuacano kings and afterwards (so much so that there was a second Chak Tok Ich'aak) - it seems curious that he would still be venerated if he had been booted off his throne and killed by foreign invaders?
