    Anyone fortunate enough to own a Mac may download and play the game known as ludus latrunculorum or latrunculi; others can play online. Latrunculi, or "robber soldiers" probably derives from the Greek game petteia, or "pebbles".

    Many game boards and pieces have been found, and Bill Thayer's site has a nice writeup of the game.
