I am writing a book about Native Americans which includes information on the Pueblo Indians of the southwest, who i believe were once very highly civilized. Over the past few months i have learned of the kivas of the Pueblo Indians, which are according to archaeologists, mearly only rooms where the inhabitants of the Pueblos would congregate to only communicate. However, i have also come across information concerning some of those kivas having ventilation shafts on their floors. Why on earth would those kivas have ventilation shafts on their floors? Sounds kind of goofy to me, yet to the trained eye, it definitely looks like a bath house, such as those of the ancient Roman civilization. Were the Pueblo Indians so advanced in civilzed life that they were so fortunate as to know the luxury of indoor plumbing? I believe yes. If anyone has any first hand knowledge about those Pueblo kivas please let me know of your opinions about them. Do you speculate that those kivas are indeed bath houses as well?
