I am not the biggest fan of Evans. Although his work ended up preserving some of the remaining ruins of Knossos, I am not for an archaeologist *or amateur archaeologist I should say* to reconstruct a past civilization from his ideas. Now, we are unable to perform certain scientific research because he has tempered with it. And the worst thing is that even if he is proven wrong, most people will remember his interpretations instead of the new ones.
Yes, there can be alot of drama and I have read in a few different sources that Evans did temper with some of the artifacts to prove himself right while discarding others as he was not able to explain or because it contridicted his theories.
