I wonder why Antony did not attempt to suppress Cicero's works, especially the Philippics which blackened his reputation. If Octavian were Cicero's enemy and Cicero wrote Philippics against him, I don't know if he would have spared him, but he wouldn't have cut off his head and hands and display them, especially not on the rostra. Rather, he would have sought to suppress his works just as he sought to suppress the records of 2nd Triumvirate and allegedly suppressed some of Caesar's writings as unworhty of him. In any case, I think Cciero's death really illustrates the difference between Antony and Octavian.
