There is probably zero chance that this will be changed, and that really hurts. The Freedmen were good enough to help build the community and contribute to the common cause for all this time. Now they are being voted as "non-Indian", cut off and cast out. The question of blood and the constant debate over who can and cannot be on the Rolls has been a hot topic for years and years. How many people are pure-blood in this country any more, whether Native American or any other race? Yet the Powers That Be deny that this is a racial issue. The irony of this just knocks me flat, how the tables have turned - and in such a tragic direction.
