Anticus, you're totally right about the image of Cleopatra - I loved the fact she did her hair in the Greek fashion except for the formal occasion of the party. It sounds incredibly dumb, but I remember so well when I first realized that she was 95% Greek, 5% (if that) Egyptian, and I'm sure that *ping!* of realization is going on all over the world.
What also intrigues me is that the lady was not given a ton of lines, but what she did with the ones she had - well, fascinationg is the right word. Antony's a goner! And that truly WAS one of the great love stories of the ancient world, although it had far more ups and downs than most people realize. Like - Antony's marrying Octavia, for a start!
