Giaus Matius sat in line to cast his ballot. He was of the 12th tribe, but proud to be Roman and never missed his opportunity to vote. Not to mention, he never missed his opportunity to get bribed and put some extra coinage in his pocket. Tonight he would eat and drink well.

"Hey!" Matius slapped his companion on the shoulder. "I knows everybody in this city. Who be they?"

Matius pointed a finger as some people that certainly were foreign to him. He was sure he had never seen them before. Maybe they would go away and not vote. Maybe he actually didn't know everyone he thought he knew. Maybe they travel in from out of the city, some of those damned Germans given the citizenship.

Matius rubbed his chin. He respected a man that came to listen to speeches and cast his vote for then candidate that gave the most convincing bribe, but the thought of a non-roman participating in his elections was almost enough to make him have a stroke. "What to do about this?" Matius thought to himself as he rubbed his chin.
