    Good to see another Neil Gaiman fan here, Nyx! *S* Sandman was my first introduction to Gaiman's writing, though I didn't pick up on it until the graphic novel collections came out (for some reason, I'm missing the last two). I'm not a great reader of comics, but I would agree with you and highly recommend these - they are indeed complex and imaginative, full of literary references, and the writing is both richly poetic and yet sharp as a dagger - I doubt it's ever been bettered in a graphic novel.
