Lucius Sempronius Rufus, Praetor of Illyricum to Publius Claudius Nero, Pro Praetor of Hispania Citerior, greetings.
My friend,
The warmth of your letter is a sharp contrast to the coldness of Illyricum this month. Still, despite the harsh weather, I will certainly miss this province. One never knows what the future holds but I suspect I will not be able to return to this part of the world in the foreseable future.
Having said this, I am looking forward to hear the outcome of the elections. I hope the gods favour you too. Rome needs a strong, coherent and reasonable men. I doubt many of the candidates possess all these qualities.
Thank you for your words. I'm pleasead that everything went well. The news I have from Hispania Citerior assure me that the barbarian menace no longer threatens the province and that your term in office was a success.
If all goes well, we will have to wait at least another year to meet. If not, well, I'm sure we will have plenty of time to enjoy the wonders of Rome.
Signed in Salonae,
Lucius Sempronius Rufus
