This cheeky take on the lives of people in the Middle-Ages is co-written by Alan Ereira. The book was put out in conjunction with a BBC series of the same name. (I have not had the pleasure to see this though.)
The chapters are dedicated to the different branches of society from peasant to kings, with descriptions of the names themselves included.
The chose the end of the Battle of Hastings as their starting point for the era. Though, they do use information about the lives of, particularly peasants, prior to that date in order to draw comparisons.
My favourite part of the book deals with the Minstrels. Leave it to one of the Monty Python gang to take that part of history and run with it.
I admire they're ability to wipe away myths and stick to the truth, albeit with a light jab at the funny bone. I'm looking forward to their take on the Barbarians.
