You have kept your dignity through all of this. Your sanity is still intact, barely. You continue to behave rationally as you walk through the last doorway - the last challenge.
Before your eyes you see priceless, golden figures. They are of Ereshkigal, Neti and other servants. Also, you find motiffs of suffering souls upon the wall. On the far wall is a dining scene. Looks like they are eating the dust of the Netherworld.
All of a sudden, the doorway closes behind you. You rush to it and try to make it open. It is not a door which blocks your way, but a wall of stone. What in the world is going on here? you wonder.
Keeping your rising panic in check, you search the other walls for a doorway, opening, hole, anything! You find nothing. But, under the banquet scene, you find some text. Quickly, you translate, hoping it is a clue as how to get out of this place.
As Inanna before you,
You have come to the Netherworld,
Stripped of all your worldy goods.
As Inanna before you,
You have come to Ereshkigal
To her domain.
As Inanna before you,
You may not leave.
You are a permanent guest of Ereshkigal.
Those who enter the Netherworld,
May never leave.
You, who have entered the Netherworld,
May never leave.
You are to live and die here,
Eating nothing but dust of the Netherworld
Until you, yourself, are dust.
