Greetings, Semetawny! Thank you for visiting my little shrine to my obsession with Japanese textiles!
I have several kimono myself and I think the best way to display them is to purchase (or make if you are handy with tools) a long pole like this one to hang the kimono from: https://www.risingsunimports.com/detail.php?itemid=2388. You slip it through the sleeves and it allows the kimono to hang without stressing it. Hang your kimono away from strong sunlight, odors from the kitchen, etc. and it will make a beautiful decoration for your home. And then you can do like I do and talk off the ears of your guests when they ask you about it. Heh!
Should you ever want to take down your kimono and store it, I recommend the traditional washi paper, which can be purchased from kimono dealers, auction sites or -- depending on where you live -- stores that carry Japanese goods. Instructions on how to fold a kimono properly can be found here: How to Fold a Kimono. More information about the kimono pole is also addressed here, as well.
If you have pictures, I'd love to see them! :)
